Shillong

Adding another chapter to North East ,I bring you some more beautiful facts relating the culture and beauty

“Meghalaya ” is also known as the Scotland of East. Mother Nature is at is best at Shillong, The Beauty is Scottish and the culture is British, the scenic beauty is mesmerising, and is blessed with the variety of Flora, Fauna and butterflies .
Orchids, which need utmost care and nurturing to grow at orchards , there in Shillong, it  grows itself in the jungles . There is infinite number varieties  of Piture  Plants. Moss and the rarest species of Water Lilies , Hydringea , Hibiscus are found everywhere and anywhere in the hills. Cherry Blossoms are topping on the cake.

People of Shillong are very disciplined and follows the custom of planting trees and plants at home. Each and every  House  is well decorated with plants .

From the time of British rule ,it is accustomed to having Wooden houses to avoid any natural calamities. The neatness, syncronisation and maintenance of the plants in each of the households is par excellence. A lesson could be learned from here that it is our duty to contribute towards the growth of greenery  around and pass it on to posterity.

Mawlynong village in Meghalaya is the cleanest village in Asia. Among the rarest species found here are insect-eating pitcher plant, wild citrus, pgymy lily. The place also boosts of the maximum varieties of butterflies found in the world. The flora and fauna here creates eye soothing sceneries, no where else to be seen.

While my visit  ,I had an opportunity to visit my friend, Mr. Suresh Singh ‘s house. I was so amazed to see my friend  Mrs. Poonam Singh’s love for nature.

She has grown such varieties of flowers and Faunas , though they are not Khasi but has maintained all in the same way . The Wooden Bungalow with a Fireplace and a beautiful Lawn in the entrance .

The similar experience was shared at Mrs. Wallangs house surrounded by hills around at Laban, Three Pines Colony . Entrance caught my eyes with beautiful Roses and many varieties of Lilium and orchids .

The flowers grown in pots made of roots , was centre of attraction to me , I was amused to see those pots , they were beautifully cafted and was put infront of the window, the beauty was soothening my eyes .

The house is very old, yet beautifully and well managed, though, alterations in the construction have been made to it but has a beautiful sitting room, and Visiting room all furnished traditionally with Cane furniture.

I feel lucky to meet the new friends ,and visiting the beautiful people and their beautiful houses .

My mom has the same craze for the plants , she has more than 500 🌿🌱plants at home and she always used to instruct us , “you may forget eating don’t forget to water the plants”when she was away from home ..

Hope we all have this craziness and grow more plants more trees and try to save our environment .

P.S. : Grow trees 🌲🌲Save our Earth:)🌏

#Special thanks and regards 🙏to Mrs. Poonam Singh and Mrs. wallang . 🙂 “Nivedita”
